Classes

SAPss will join in partnership with Harvesting Souls International Church in promoting the welfare of others in our community .

Eligibility

All classes are meeting virtual. Classes are open to the public but generally includes participants who have been court mandated or placed on pre-trial intervention including probation, parole for a drug offense (misdemeanor and felony). Classes are also open to individuals who self-refer or are referred by an employer. 
 

Referral Process

Payments are due before a participant is eligible for enrollment. A participant must attend all class sessions to complete the program. A Certificate of Completion will be issued upon successful completion. A duplicate certificate of completion may be issued to replace a lost one at the cost of $5.00.  Any total of 3 missed class will result in the participant being dropped from class; after which, the participant will be required to pay a half initial payment or $12.50 re-enrollment fee.

Anger Management

The purpose of this class is to teach men and women cognitive-behavioral and problem-solving skills. The goal is to help clients manage anger and respond to problematic situation in a more productive less destructive manor. The class meets for 12 weeks.

BIPP - Battering Intervention Prevention Program (accreditation # 050-001)

(Battering Intervention Prevention Program) this course is for men who need to confront their abusive behaviors and rigid beliefs about traditional power and control in a relationship. The programs focus is on non-violence and is designed to change belief systems.

Cognitive Intervention - Thinking for Change

This is a cognitive-behavioral curriculum developed by the National Institute of Corrections. The program is designed to correct faulty thinking patterns and improve problem solving skills through cognitive restructuring. The class is open to men and women and meets for 18 hours one hour weekly.

DOEP - Drug Offender Education Program

DOEP is a standardized program 15 hours in length and designed to increase the knowledge of drug offenders by educating them on the dangers of drug abuse and associated illegal activities.

DWIE - Driving While Intoxicated Eduication

This DWI Education Program is for first offenders. It is designed to increase the knowledge of drug and alcohol by education, identifying their own drug and alcohol use patterns and to assist in developing a personal action plan to reduce future illegal behavior. It is 12-hour class.

Family Violence Intervention

Family Violence is an intentional act by an individual that cause physical harm, bodily injury, assault or sexual assault to a family or household member. This class is designed to help clients identify acts of violence and develop action plans to reduce future incidence of violence. The class meets for 24 weeks.

Finances Matter

The Finances Matter Class provides education on managing finances in a responsible manner. Specific course topics include identifying sources of income and known expenses, being able to write a budget, differentiating between a want and a need, setting financial goals, and identifying steps required to achieve those goals. During the course participants will also learn about values and priorities, building wealth, lowering expenses, and, participants will also create a personal budget to assist them in meeting financial needs. This class meets for 4 weeks.

Coaching is a partnership with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process to pursue their dreams. A  coach can help the client to plan and prepare for their desired future not by uncovering the past as in counseling but working diligently towards their goals.

The Overcomers program is used nationally across the United States and internationally in numerous support groups as well as in prison, jails, and parole systems. Overcomers was the officially accepted faith-based recovery program offered in the TDCJ (Texas Department of Criminal Justice).

Responsible Parenting

Helps parents determine why the child is misbehaving with a focus on counteracting that negative behavior using methods that are non-threatening. This would allow for improved communication and more strategic parenting.

Assisting parents in breaking the cycle of past trauma and breaking free to more effective responsible parenting.

 

Guide parents in the decision making process relative to all dysfunctional families including issues of child abuse and neglect.

  Life Skills for Adults       
 
This course offers educational guidance on essential skills for achieving independence. Topics covered include cognitive, interpersonal skills, and financial management, among others. The skills taught are geared towards helping adults apply them right away. The class runs for 12 weeks.

 Bipp for Women Intimate Partner Violence

           Women who use Violence

This battering Intervention Prevention Program is for women who batter and or victims of violence themselves. Identify successful intervention strategies to stop domestic violence against men and women

 Victims of abuse is usually not passive when being physically, psychologically or sexually attacked

What is domestic violence, what is intimate partner nonviolence, looking at gender specific issues. Women as batterers.

This class meets 18 to 24 weeks and requires an assessment/Orientation intake.

Shoplifting & Theft

This class is designed to educate individuals on some of the behavior, physical, cognitive and psychosocial symptoms connected theft. While reducing the impact of risk factors that make individuals more susceptible to substance abuse. It is a 6-week class.

 This class focuses on the victim and the impact the crime has had in their lives.

A victims personal experience is paramount

This is a 3-to-4-hour class.

Substance Abuse

This class is designed to educate individuals on some of the behavior, physical, cognitive and psychosocial symptoms connected to substance abuse.  while reducing the impact of risk factors that make individuals more susceptible to substance abuse. It is a 6-week class.
